Christmas Eve 2009

Just wanted to share a video from our Christmas Eve. This was the first (and last) year to host Christmas Eve at our house. (Eric and I made that executive decision, knowing Big Daddy and Mimi will be moved into their new house by next year.) While we really did enjoy having everyone over, our house really isn't set up to host a large dinner party. We had a great Christmas with lots of family and I still have some more video and pics I will post soon.

Bloggy Facelift

Thank you to Katie at http://joshandkatiejones.blogspot.com/who just gave my blog a face lift. Apparently, she thought it needed it, so I gave her the rights to it. It does look better, don't you think? I told her she should go into the "blog beautification business." Thanks again! My blog feels so refreshed!!

Videos

Here is the video, as promised, of sweet little Mason singing the B-i-b-l-e and sticking his finger up his nose. Please forgive the awful singing in the first part and the bouncing camera of the video taken in the car. I started filming at a stop light and then the light turned green so I had to go. Yes, I continued filming him turning left, in the middle of Cool Springs in crazy Christmas traffic. Hey-don't judge- I didn't have a wreck. Enjoy!

Where'd he learn that?

The time in my life has come to have to watch what I say. Uh-oh!!!

Today was a cold and nasty rainy day. I was getting Mason out of his car seat and putting him in his stroller to head into the mall. As soon he was in the elements he pointed up and said "wain"

I was letting Lucy out to go potty one day this week that was painfully cold. I told Mason to shut the door because it was cold. He went to the door, shut it, and looked at me with a furrowed brow and said, "cole"

Mason sings the song b-i-b-l-e at school. Yesterday he was getting upset in the car so I started singing it. "The B-i-b-l-e, yes that's the book for me, I stand alone on the word of God, the B-i-b-l-e. At the end of the song, he threw both hands up in the air and screamed BIBLE!! I got video of this when we got home so I will post it shortly.

His other new "trick" is to stick his finger up his nose and say "momma." I think it sounds funny to him so he just does it over and over. However, I was kind of embarrassed when he chose to do this in the middle of Williams Sonoma today when the sales lady was helping me. - got video of this one too. :)

NEW frequently used words
Up/Down
Hot
yummy
uh-oh!
Rock (pronounced "Wock") (when he wants to drink milk and snuggle in the rocking chair) Mostly said when Mimi is present since he know that's her favorite thing to do.
Cheese (pronounced "cheeeeeeeeeese") (When the camera is out or when he wants some cheese)

I thought kids started putting words together closer to the age of two but lately he's says, "I got it." and "I want it."

And here are a few pictures demonstrating his cuteness.

He loves his Santa pants because they are so soft and fuzzy. Daddy pulls them up to his armpits and makes him look like a dork.

Mealtime and Motor skills
Eating is always fun with an (almost) 18 month old. Lately, I have noticed him organizing his food on his tray- putting it in piles and moving it from one side to the other or stacking his sliced carrots. His big accomplishment this week is eating with a spoon. I kept putting off trying this because I really wasn't excited to clean up the lovely mess he makes slinging the food around. I decided once his fine motor skills had developed a little more, I would try it. Monday morning of this week, I handed him the spoon with his oatmeal and turned my back for a few minutes. When I came back to him the oatmeal was gone. He was wearing quite a bit of it but I think he got most of it down.

Loves getting wa-wa out of the fridge

Here is his best demonstration of "Cheeeeeeese." This was right after feeding him about 20 M&M's so he had a pretty decent sugar high going.

Lampo Christmas Party 2009

Last night Eric and I attended his company Christmas party at the Embassy Suites in Cool Springs. This is Eric's 6th Christmas party and it's hard to believe he's been with the company that long. It was kind of a leap of faith that he took 6 years ago, when he left his current job at ISDN net to come work for Dave but has turned out to be one blessing after the next working for such an amazing company.

Lampo has been voted best place to work the last 4 years and it's not hard to see why. All this week, the employees have been showered with gifts including: Restaurant gift certificates, honeybaked ham, Thomas Kincade Ornament, and in effort to promote healthy living, a water bottle with a $75 gift certificate to Dick's sporting goods or Fleet Feet. That was just this week. He also announced that he was paying more toward health insurance and will pay up to $300 towards a gym membership per year!

We weren't sure what was in store for the Christmas party but try not to "expect" anything else. I mean, in this economy most employees around the country are lucky to get just a ham. However, if you've heard us talk the legendary past Christmas parties it's hard not to wonder if they had something up their sleeve. Previous parties they have given away cruises, cash, laptops, TV's, Wii's, Iphones, digital cameras, etc, etc,. So after dinner Dave decided to play a game and put some cash on the table. Employees were randomly called up to play on behalf of the company for cold-hard-cash. When all was said and done. "Simon Say's" won us $150, a guy eating 6 crackers in one minute won us another $150, and five (musically talented) employees had to form a band and sing a song with instruments in one minute. If they could do this we ALL won another $450. Since these players were handpicked musicians the money was ours! How cool is that??

God has blessed this company with the right people that know how to win in the marketplace. In Dave's words, "They leave the cave, kill something, and drag it home." Instead of keeping all the money for himself (and let's be honest, it's his company and he could do that) Dave acknowledges how valuable his employees are and shares profit with them. You couldn't ask for a better boss than that. Needless to say we had a great time at the party and feel truly blessed to be part of a wonderful company that gives hope to so many people.

Skeptical of Santa

Is Mason skeptical of Santa because
A) Santa's Rolex is fake
B) Santa reeks of Evan Williams
C) Santa is the one that stole his shoe

Tubes

Mason had tubes placed in his ears this morning and everything went smoothly. Last night, Eric and I asked each other if this was the right decision and we both agreed that it was. Our decision was affirmed this morning when Mason woke up screaming at 5:30. I guess that was his way of telling us he was ready to go. We got to the hospital about 6:15am and they took him to surgery at 8:00 on the dot. Eric had just enough time to get me a coffee and him a breakfast sandwich before they came out to tell us he was done. He was a fussy coming out of surgery with the after effects of the anesthesia but once we got home he ate a little breakfast and is sleeping soundly now. Before they took him back for surgery they gave him some versed to relax him. Eric got some video of Mason really really relaxed.

Breaking the rules

I have been told by my husband that if I posted these pictures I would not remain in the Lackey's family's "inner circle." Not sure what that means, but I am willing to take the risk. Here are our Christmas PJ pics. :)

In case you missed it...

I compiled some videos from November of Mason. Enjoy!

Cyber Deals still going on

I missed out on Black Friday and Cyber Monday but I am still finding deals online. There's nothing better than doing Christmas shopping in your P.J's.

I just ordered an 8x10 photo on canvas for free (only paid shipping) here.

Amazon.com was selling select magazines for $5 for 1 years subscription. I ordered Southern Living for a gift, and Real Simple, and People Style Watch for myself. Sorry, I think this deal is over but they are still running pretty good deals on some of their magazines.

My third find is a savings that keeps on saving. www.nashvillecitipass.com/purchase I love this book because it has buy one get one free coupons to tons of restaurants in our area as well as hardware stores, salons and spas, and other retail stores. Right now you can get the Citipass for buy one get one free. Only $15/book. This book always pays for itself the first time we use it.

Anyone else found great online deals? Please share!!

Adam Lackey

File Batch Project Analyst
Passport Health Communications

As you can see, this "File Batch Project Analyst" needs something to do since his job doesn't keep him busy enough, so I have dedicated this blog to him.

Here it goes:

November has been a very sick month for Mason. After double ear infections that led to 7 doctor visits, 4 different liquid antibiotics, 3 rounds of antibiotics shots, one attempt at holistic Chiropractic healing, and a final visit to the ear, nose, and throat doctor we have scheduled surgery for the 18th of December.
Merry Christmas, Mason!! This year for Christmas, you are getting tubes in your ears!!

Besides the ear infections we had a great Thanksgiving and are in full gear getting ready for Christmas. This past weekend Mason's verbal switch turned on and he has been really been chatty Cathy. Here are some pictures from the last few weeks.

Thanksgiving 2009- Trying on Grandaddy's hat.

Mason's first official Thanksgiving Meal! Last year he had milk. Wow- A lot changes in 1 year.

I am not sure what was going on here but I don't think Mason liked it.

Eric and his childhood best friend, Brody, reconnect at
Drew and Heather Bennett's Thanksgiving dinner.
Party was hosted by Adam Lackey. Thanks for the great party Adam!

Stay tuned for some video from the past month.
